Secrect code machines

Make a code machine with your best friend.  You can write coded messages to each other.
First one is Julia's number and alphabet code machine.
Second is Lucy's Egyptian alphabet and English alphabet code machine.

How to make ?

  • Cut two circles from thick card paper. One is bigger than the other.
  • Equally divide the circle to 30 segments.
  • Write the letters or numbers around the edges of the two circles.
  • Use a paper clip to secure two circles' center together.
  • Decorate your code machine!
How to use?

When you write your secret message, you need to tell your friend your key. For example k=14, then you translate your secret message into serial numbers using your code machine. See below:

12             15  18  25  8        28  18  24

Cotton reel wheel burrow

A wheel and axle work together. By apply force to the wheel you cause the axle to turn. Conversely if you apply force to the axle you will cause the wheel to turn.
Using wheel burrow, we carry much more heavy things.

Let us make a wheel burrow using cotton reel.

Matrials:

Thick card, blue tac, cotton reel, bamboo barbecue stick

How to make wheel burrow

  •  use thick card to make a box
  • cut out two long strips
  • cut out two semi-circles
  • cut the right length bamboo stick, thread through the cotton reel
  • cut out a hole on the tip of card strip, secure on the cotton reel with blue tac.
  • glue the semi-circle on both sides of box
  • glue the card strip on both sides of box

Julia's wheel burrow made an appearence in this year Easter egg decoration, and helped to win the best egg decoration of her year.
